CASE STUDIES
1. MARVELLous Ideas
Challenge:
A London-based startup wanted to strengthen its creative problem-solving skills and move beyond traditional ways of thinking. The aim was to use cognitive tools to develop and pitch bold, high-concept ideas.
Strategy:
We created “MARVELous Ideas”, a full-day innovation workshop where teams designed and pitched a pilot episode for a new Marvel series using unused characters. Each idea had to include:
A unique hero and antagonist
A twist or unexpected hook
A clear, memorable ending
Pitches were judged on creativity, appeal, and practicality — inspiring participants to take risks, think freely, and enjoy the creative process.
Innovation Strategy Workshop for a London-Based Startup
Solution:
The fast-paced, hands-on session sparked bold and imaginative ideas — from unexpected character arcs to alliances between villains. Participants stepped out of their comfort zones, gaining confidence in creative thinking and strategy.
Feedback:
“I never thought I’d pitch a superhero show — this really changed how I approach idea generation.”
“Loved the balance of structure and creative freedom — innovating felt effortless.”
2. Streamer Things
A round-based D&D-inspired simulation for first-movers, first followers, and implementation strategy.
Solution:
This immersive simulation challenges teams to test their risk tolerance, resilience, and strategic foresight. Participants must face industry resistance, market shifts, and the tension between being a first mover or a fast follower. By the end, players gain a sharper understanding of innovation strategy, long-term thinking, and how unpredictable true market disruption can be.
Feedback:
“A brilliant exercise in strategy, uncertainty, and staying true to your vision—even when everyone doubts you.”
“The best way to feel what real business decisions are like — a mix of smart choices, timing, and a bit of luck.”
Challenge:
In 2007, streaming was still an uncertain and risky idea. The film industry didn’t quite know what to make of it. As media executives, your team must decide where to invest — from emerging technologies and anti-lag streaming to UX design and digital rights management — all without knowing how the market will change. Will your innovations revolutionise cinema, or fade away as a short-lived trend?
Strategy:
Played as a round-based, Dungeons & Dragons-style simulation, each team invests in technologies that influence how Martin Scorsese judges their business at the Academy Awards. But success is never guaranteed — every decision depends on the roll of a D20 dice, mirroring the unpredictability of real-world markets and execution.
Round 1 (2007 Oscars): Scorsese mocks your choices, criticising your attempts to disrupt traditional cinema. Some teams panic and abandon their ideas under pressure.
Round 2 (2008 Oscars): The financial crisis has hit, changing everything. Teams that stayed committed to their vision are suddenly approached by a man named Reed Hastings — the founder of a small but ambitious streaming platform called Netflix — who recognises their potential and wants to collaborate.
3. Psychological Capital Workshop
MBA Leadership Training
Challenge:
MBA students, managers, and executives need more than just technical know-how to succeed in today’s fast-moving business world. Building resilience, optimism, and self-belief — the key elements of psychological capital — is vital for strong leadership. Yet, these qualities are often missing from traditional management training.
Strategy:
We created an immersive workshop blending expert-led discussions, cognitive tools, and hands-on activities to help participants apply psychological capital in real leadership situations. Using techniques such as Rewind and Reframe, they learned to shift their mindset, overcome negative thinking, and stay confident under pressure. Through interactive exercises, participants discovered how to rewire their outlook and use positive psychology to handle challenges with resilience.
Solution:
This workshop on change management mixed simple theory with real practice, giving everyone clear and useful steps they could apply straight away. Participants found the session refreshing and motivating. Many said the Rewind & Reframe techniques helped them see problems differently, manage stress, and make stronger decisions.
Feedback:
“Such a clever and creative way to handle negative thoughts. A great tool for teams and individuals to manage how they think and react.”
“I didn’t realise how much I needed this today. I’m stuck on a big decision and this helped me REWIRE and REFRAME my thinking. Outstanding—thank you!”
“Excellent session! It showed us how to rethink and rewind the challenges we face in work and life. A really smart and inspiring approach.”
4. Public Speaking & Confidence Workshop
Challenge:
A London-based professional services firm brought together a diverse group of people — from different roles, ages, and levels of experience — who wanted to gain confidence in public speaking and improve how they communicate. Many had little experience speaking in front of others and needed a safe, supportive space to step out of their comfort zone.
Strategy:
Held at a venue near Wembley Stadium, this hands-on change management workshop combined proven cognitive tools with practical speaking exercises. One highlight was the one-minute elevator pitch challenge, where each participant shared an interesting fact about themselves in front of the group. By mixing theory with real-world practice, participants learned how to manage nerves, capture attention, and speak confidently under pressure.
London-Based Professional Services Team
Solution:
The relaxed and interactive setup made participants feel comfortable and encouraged to grow their speaking skills. The group’s enthusiasm showed how well the workshop worked — many said it helped them see public speaking as something they could actually enjoy, not fear.
Feedback:
“Great way to learn some public speaking tricks. Makes you think about how to really connect with the audience — not as easy as it looks!”
“I was nervous at first, but the friendly atmosphere helped me relax and actually enjoy speaking.”
“Engaging, challenging, and inspiring — it pushed me just enough to build real confidence.”
5. Creative Collaboration for Corporate Sustainability
Challenge:
A strategy team from a London-based tech company wanted to move beyond fixed ways of thinking and use creative teamwork to come up with fresh, sustainability-focused ideas. The aim was to challenge routine thinking and find new ways to solve problems.
Strategy:
Through storytelling activities and theatre-inspired exercises, we helped participants take part in hands-on challenges such as the Boxing Method, which encouraged open-minded and flexible thinking. Teams worked together to find new uses for everyday materials and discovered creative ways to bring sustainability into their business while strengthening their collaboration and idea-generation skills.
Strategy Workshop for a London-Based Tech Company
Solution:
The session encouraged participants to step out of their comfort zones, sparking fresh and surprising sustainability ideas — from turning second-hand fabrics into new products to finding eco-friendly alternatives for common building materials. By the end, participants felt more confident about brainstorming and had a renewed outlook on creative problem-solving.
Feedback:
“At first, it felt a bit awkward, but once we started drawing ideas from the box, it became easier and a lot more fun!”
“This really pushed me out of my comfort zone — I’ll definitely use the ‘Box Method’ in future brainstorming sessions.”
“A creative and inspiring way to look at sustainability and teamwork differently.”
